About Liverpool

Liverpool is a large city and metropolitan borough of Merseyside, North West England. The city is located on the eastern side of the Mersey Estuary. It is the 8th most populous British city.

Historically, Liverpool was always a part of Lancashire. The city's urbanisation and expansion were largely brought about by the city's status as a major shipping port and these are still in use today.

The Mersey Estuary separates Liverpool from the Wirral Peninsula. Liverpools neighbours include Bootle, Crosby and Maghull in south Sefton to the north, and Kirkby, Huyton, Prescot and Halewood in Knowsley to the east.
