Glyn Thomas (Partner)

Glyn Thomas is a chartered arboriculturist and registered consulant of the Institute of Chartered Foresters and is a fellow of the Arboricultural Association. With a background in arboricultural contracting, Glyn moved into the public sector in 1991. He joined Cheshire Woodlands from Macclesfield Borough Council in 2004 after thirteen years as a local government arboricultural officer and became a partner in 2009.  

During his time at Macclesfield Borough Council, Glyn was instrumental in developing the Council's supplementary planning guidance (SPG) 'Trees and Development', which was first published in 1997 and quickly became a model template for trees and development SPGs across the country.

Glyn has presented training to his peers and fellow professionals on the topics of 'Trees and Development' and 'Making and Reviewing Tree Preservation Orders'. Since 2009, he has been visiting lecturer on The University of Central Lancashire MSc. Arboriculture course.

Through his knowledge of the planning system in relation to development and tree preservation orders, Glyn has developed a loyal client base who benefit from his broad knowledge and experience.
