Prior to the survey, a meeting with the client enabled us to clarify the Association's priorities, gleaning important information from their historical knowledge of the sites and the way in which they are accessed by the public.

It was necessary to agree with the client a broad and general threshold of risk, above which risk control measures would be considered in the context of any particular tree's value. A risk being more tolerable if the tree has significant value.
