About Knutsford

Knutsford is a town in East Cheshire and lies 15 miles southwest of Manchester. Located between the Cheshire Plain and Clwydian Mountain Range. Due to its proximity to Manchester and it's historical links with the city, it has become an ideal commuter town. The town's location gives residents easy access to Merseyside as well as Manchester.
Tatton Park

Tatton Park is a historic estate in Cheshire, north of Knutsford. It contains a mansion, Tatton Hall, a manor house dating from medieval times, Tatton Old Hall, gardens, a farm and 2,000 acres of land, where deer roam. It is a popular visitor attraction and hosts over 100 events annually. The estate is owned by the National Trust, who administer it jointly with Cheshire East Council. Since 1999 it has hosted an annual horticultural show, the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show.

1,000 out of the 2,000 acres of land are open to the public. In the park are two meres; Tatton Mere, is natural but the other, Melchett Mere, is the consequence of subsidence in the 1920s; in fact, mature trees can bee seen leaning towards the mere where the ground beneath them has subsided. The meres are Sites of Special Scientific Interest and Ramsar sites.

Cheshire Woodlands has been involed in the surveying of trees and woodland at Tatton Park on behalf of Cheshire East Council.
