Our arboricultural consultancy practice serves a wide range of clients in the north-west and north midlands of England, providing a diverse range of arboricultural and urban forestry services.

Job title: Arboricultural Surveyor

The post holder will provide specialist tree advice on a wide range of issues including pre-planning tree surveys and reports, tree risk assessments, post-subsidence assessment, assessment of tree stability, woodland management and diagnosis of tree disease and ill-health.

The skills and experience needed for the post are:

·           Good communication and 'people skills'

·           The ability to work both on own initiative and as part of a small team

·           The ability to work closely with local authority tree officers, planners, architects, ecologists and other professionals

·           Excellent IT skills and a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCad are essential

·           Current driving licence

·      The post holder will have relevant practical surveying and reporting experience and hold a qualification in arboriculture or forestry to a minimum of ‘National Qualifications Framework’ Level 3-4.

 

Job Tasks

·           Assess trees and woodlands and provide written technical reports to clients for a range of purposes including:

o   development planning applications

o   silvicultural and landscape management

o   managing risks to people and property

o   mortgage and subsidence assessments

·           Produce technical drawings and plans using AutoCad and MapInfo

·           Maintain clear records of all work tasks

Hours and Environment

The post hours are 40 per week and office hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

You will be office-based in Macclesfield and will spend some of your time visiting client’s properties with occasional overnight stays away. You may also be required to attend conferences, trade fairs and exhibitions from time to time.

Holidays

Holiday entitlement will be 28 days each year including public holidays.

Salary

The successful applicant will receive a salary of between £22,000 and £26,000 plus a company contribution to a personal pension equivalent to 6% of salary.
