About Vale Royal

Between 1974 and 2009, Vale Royal was a local government district located in Cheshire. It contained the towns of Northwich, Winsford and Frodsham. However, in 2009, became a part of Cheshire West and Chester. It took its name from Vale Royal Abbey, formerly one of the largest in England, which was situated near the village of Whitegate near the centre of the district.

Cheshire Woodlands have, for several years, provided tree and woodland management advice to the current owners of Vale Royal Abbey.
